The UNITE program, working in partnership with Northwestern University, is an alternative teacher certification program that recruits individuals who would like to change careers and become teachers in the Chicago Public Schools, Charter Schools, or Catholic Schools. The UNITE program offers a specially designed program for non-education majors that trains them to teach in urban settings, and yields a State of Illinois teaching certificate (either K-9 or 6-12) and more than half of the credits required for a Masters Degree in Education.
