Candidate Requirements
Minimum of a postrgraduate teaching diploma or Bachelor of Education form a recognised university.
Special Considerations
The first step in the application process is to determine if you are eligible for a visa to work in Britain. Please find below lots of information about your visa options. · If you are a UK citizen or hold either an EU or EAA passport you are able to enter the UK to work. If you are married to a British National or EU passport holder then you are also entitled to work in the UK. · If you are a Canadian citizen and you are under the age of 31 then you can apply for a Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa. This allows you to live and work in the UK for a 2 year period and you can arrange work before you leave. · If your parents were born in the UK, you will be able to obtain ‘Right to Abode’ status. You will have to present original birth certificates to the British High Commission in your home country to gain this type of visa.· If you are a Commonwealth citizen and either of your grandparents were born in Britain then you can apply for an Ancestral Visa which will allow you to work in the UK for up to 4 years.· If you are a qualified Secondary Maths or Science teacher you may be sponsored by registered schools on a Tier 2 Work Permit. Please note that all other subject areas including Special Needs and Primary teachers are excluded from the sponsorship program.· If you are an experienced teacher may also be eligible for a Tier 1 ‘Highly Skilled’ visa. This programme is designed for Highly Skilled individuals and is based on a points system in which you do not require sponsorship by a school. You must earn a minimum of 75 points in the first 4 categories (age, qualifications, salary and UK experience) AND 20 points for English proficiency and Maintenance Funds.
